Théo and Éomer: Reunion

So it's Friday, almost noon, and I'm riding towards Karl's place. I can feel Théo at the back of my mind, antsy, almost pushy. "Quit it!" He backs off, but I know he's still there. When I finally got round to paying attention to the signs, it's easy to know when he's close. There's a tiny buzz when he's close, like a very small mosquito zipping around. He didn't really like the comparison, but I told him it wasn't personal. He promised me that there would be no more eavesdropping, and I believe him, but I feel better knowing I've got a failsafe, that I can definitely know whether I'm alone or not.

It's a pleasant drive, but all too soon, I'm pulling into Karl's yard, letting Leelu cruise the last few feet on autopilot as my attention is grabbed by a horse and rider in the field beyond the barn. Turning off her engine, I slip the keys into my pocket and watch transfixed as they gallop at full tilt towards the fence, the rider's hair streaming out behind him. He reins in the horse at the last minute, and slips off its back, heading straight for me. "So that's Éomer?" I murmur, taking in the magnificent guy with a predatory look in his eyes, suddenly glad of the buzz in my mind.

Théo: "It is, and I think it is time for me to shift ... in case he mistakes you for me."
